About Us
The Beginning Of The East Rural Network
In 2000 Councillor Fred Slater obtained EU funding for the East Rural Area. He pulled together the regeneration committee that ran for some years distributing funding to many causes throughout the area. This committee was responsible for helping to set up a new committee for the centre and some funding to help repair the Centre, which had come into bad times due to lack of support. Funding in the way of local grant monies was becoming available and this also helped with the improvements to the Carus centre that you now see.
After the funding ended the committee decided to continue meeting to work on projects around the area. However due to the Lack of funding the committee decided to become an association for the area and formed a new committee with a chair, funding secretary, minute secretary and treasurer and also drew up a constitution. This enabled the network to open a bank account and to raise funds for projects around the area.
